Snowboard Instructor Course in The Three Valleys

Become a BASI snowboard instructor in the world’s largest ski area

The SnowSkool Three Valleys snowboard instructor course is awesome…even if we say so ourselves! But it is not for the shrinking violets, you’ll be pushed to the limit on your board; to SnowSkool’s BASI snowboard trainers, you are a student and not a customer. They are not going to carry your board to the lift and nor will they finish each lesson by telling you how sick your riding is and to “keep trying, buddy!” They will let you know in no uncertain terms if your riding is not up to scratch and they have all manners of tools & tricks to turn this around. And this is not Jean-Claude grumpily hanging up his skis boots to teach a snowboard lesson, we work with an independent Snowboard School in Méribel. All snowboard trainers are BASI-ISTD instructors with full French equivalence.

And, after eleven weeks, you’ll be riding like a pro and you’ll earn the respect of the mountain…and, probably, a BASI Level 2 snowboard instructor qualification too!

Slopes

A short paragraph doesn’t seem a lot of space to describe the world’s largest ski area. 600km of pistes interconnected by some-170 lifts and eight resorts which have household names the world over - Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens. It is a magical place, but you probably know that. As the world’s favourite ski area, there is an outside chance that you have been there and snowboarded its hallowed slopes. In which case all I can say is that, having visited the best resorts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA, it simply does not get better than the Three Valleys. Notice Scotland wasn’t included in that list…!

Accommodation + Meals

Méribel is all about the chalets and SnowSkool has snapped up some sweet pads for the instructor course - located in Les Allues our chalets are just a short walk from the village shops, bars & restaurants and all bedrooms have en-suites. Chalets are the ideal base for a course of this nature, a veritable home from home providing ample living space for the season.

  • Easy access for Méribel nightlife
  • Easy access for bus to slopes
  • All en-suite bedrooms
  • Chalet hosts
  • Large communal areas
  • Free WiFi
  • TV, Stereo & DVD players

There is the option to pay an additional fee to take a single-person private room.

Tuition

SnowSkool has teamed-up with a specialist BASI Snowboard School for our Three Valleys snowboard instructor course. All snowboard instructors hold the BASI ISTD qualification with full French equivalence. This is the top level certificate in the BASI system and it is fair to day that these guys truly are at the top of their game. During the eleven weeks, you’ll have ~115 hours of snowboard tuition.

Qualifications

Snowboarders on the Three Valleys course will sit the snowboard instructor qualifications of the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI). Level 1 & Level 2 exams are scheduled into the eleven-week course…all you need to do is pass the tough exams and log 70 hours of Snowboard School experience - then you’ll be all set for a life working as a snowboard instructor!

Please note: The cost of the BASI Level 2 will be paid in resort after you have completed your BASI Level 1.

Your SnowSkool Rep

Supporting the team back home in the office, we have a SnowSkool rep who will be with you throughout your time in Meribel! The duties of the rep include (but are not limited to) organising your weekly schedule (lessons/ exams/ course/ work experience), taking photos of you on the slopes, organising trips to other resorts and planning the odd après session and nights out. Sounds fun but they’re on duty 24:7!
