Slopes

With over 140km of trails, 1400m of skiable vertical and a high altitude location, Crans Montana is a great resort for your ski instructor internship with SnowSkool. The resort has a good range of pistes ... there's an above average amount of tougher pistes meaning some great terrain to explore and challenge yourself on; with long runs of over 12km you can feel the burning in your legs as you power your way down; you can explore some awesome off-piste and tree skiing; and if it takes your fancy, Crans Montana also has the 2nd best terrain park in Switzerland (after Laax which is beyond amazing and so 2nd place is no shame!).

Despite all this, Crans Montana never feels super busy on the slopes meaning no hanging around in big lift lines even at the peak times. And to top it all off, on a good day, the whole resort is baked in sun meaning some memorable days both on the pistes and in the piste-side bars and restaurants.

Accommodation

As a member of the ski school, SnowSkool interns will stay in staff accommodation in Crans Montana. You will share an apartment with other SnowSkool interns with a lounge area and cooking facilities so you can prepare your own meals - and you'll be in a shared bedroom. If luxury is what you're looking for then this is not the course for you - but if you're happy with a warm, homely and sociable atmosphere then you'll find exactly what you're looking for.

Tuition

Tuition on the SnowSkool Saas Fee course is provided by the Sommet et Neige Ski School. All ski trainers assigned to the SnowSkool course will have the highest internationally-recognised qualifications.

During the course, you will have 150 hours of training that will provide you with an all-round ski education. Obviously there will be a strong focus on technical skiing and teaching but you will also work on ski fitness & stretching, ski tuning, mountain safety, freestyle and first aid.

Qualifications

On the SnowSkool course in Crans Montana, you'll obtain the qualifications of the PSIE (Professional Ski Instructors of Europe). PSIE is a new qualification body at the cutting edge of instructor training and offering an internationally recognised qualification that works completely seemlessly with the qualifications of the PSIC (Professional Ski Instructors of Canada). This means you can progress your career and undertake further training with either PSIE or PSIC - and both will seemlessly recognise the others qualification. On the SnowSkool course, you will sit the 4-day Level 1 exam before Christmas and the 6-day Level 2 exam in early February.

Ski Instructor Work

On the SnowSkool internship in Crans Montana, you can expect to work around 80-100 hours over the course of the season and you will be paid approximately 25CHF per hour. With good performance, the right attitude and an ability to on-sell lessons, there is every opportunity to work more hours.
