Week 6
ROCK N ROLL BINGO
We started the week off strong with another great evening at rock n roll bingo. This has become a staple for the musical bunch within the group. Shout out to Elise and Grace who both won the 2nd place prize, a £50 voucher to a local ski shop.
ICE HOCKEY ENTERTAINMENT
This was followed by the mighty Méribel Bouquetins taking on the Grenoble bears in a nail biter at Parc Olympique. Unfortunately, much to the disdain of the crowd and the SnowSkool community, Méribel lost.
DANCING AND POOL
After the game, the students headed to PUB where a mixture of dancing and pool was played by all. Despite valiant efforts from challengers Oli, Adrian and Tomas, Australian duo CJ and Nathan were too strong and won both games. Till next time boys!!
QUALIFIED INSTRUCTOR RECRUITMENT CHATS
On Thursday, we met up with SnowSkool Director Steve Purdie and had a coffee at La Taverne. This was followed by a recruitment presentation in Daurel for those that were interested.
BLUEBIRDS AND FRESH POWDER JOY
On Friday, the Snowskoolers were blessed to wake up to 40cms of fresh powder that came in overnight. It was blue skies, perfect conditions with Friday shaping up to be one of those all-time days of both on piste and off piste skiing. Whilst Sean, Gil, Travis and Dave revelled in the powder bowls of Mottaret, others including Cosima, Jake and Peter stuck to the perfect groomed runs at Chandrossa.
The students then had their afternoon lessons which was an extension of the fun they had in the morning. All instructors decided to take the groups through an off piste practical, a perfect way to prepare for their level 2s. Everyone came home with ear-to-ear smiles as the snow was that good!!
These stellar conditions continued throughout Saturday and Sunday. And ...
Week 7
... was another awesome week for Snowskoolers
ICE CAVE ADVENTURES
We started the week with some great conditions from the previous snowfall. On Sunday, Nathan and Jake headed to Val Thorens to check out Refuge du Lac du Lou and the infamous ice cave that Adrian had seen on Social media.
After skiing off piste at Pointe De La Masse, the group headed through the valley to be greeted by warm hot Chocolates and sweets. We got to witness ice lake diving, a sport that looked very cold!! After this the crew headed to the ice cave. This was a great experience skiing through a 30 metre submerged cave.
MORE GREAT SNOW
On Sunday evening, a light dusting fell over the Three Valleys which improved the already great off piste conditions. Tomas, Findlay, and Ollz amongst others headed to the tree runs of the cox chair to practice their variable terrain skills. With 360s, 180s and nose butters, its safe to say the boys had plenty of fun in the light, fluffy powder on offer.
Whilst the boys were enjoying themselves, Jamie, Cydney and Annie made the most of the piste runs.
MORE ROCK N ROLL BINGO
This was followed again by rock n roll bingo in the evening. A great evening out for everyone with Elise and Gracie showing off their dance moves…we had lots of fun.
SUNRISE HIKE UP COL DE LOZ
On Thursday morning, a group of us including but not limited to Peter, Josh, Cosima and Gil hiked to the summit of Col de Loze. After setting off at 5:30am, the Snowskoolers hiked up the piste towards the summit. We were blessed with an unbelievable sunrise, calm conditions and a picture perfect skyline. It was well worth the early wake up.
on the way up to the summit of Col de Loz
SNOWSKOOL POOL COMPETITION CONTINUES
On Friday evening, we headed to PUB to compete in a SnowSkool pool competition. Nathan and CJ were the duo to beat however fell to Tommy and Ella in the dying minutes. Congratulations to Ella and Tommy who are our resident pool champions.
