It's week seven and we're closing in on crunch time!
The week got off to a great start as Callum and Jonathan passed their Level 1 re-sit exam, many congratulations to both of them. With 2 weeks left until the BASI Level 2 exams, the groups are back with the trainers they had in the beginning, concentrating on polishing up on some minor things that need to be addressed and/or changed.
The week saw some very changeable weather again, with days of both sunshine and cloud. There were even days where it was like a summer holiday in our SnowSkool MD's birthplace, Scotland: sunny at 9:00 am, raining at 10:00am and snowing for the rest of the day. It was a really crazy week!
This week the SnowSkool students prepared and delivered their own lessons to the rest of their group in preparation of the teaching aspects of the exam, and it was fair to say everyone did really well, earning some excellent feedback from the instructors.
Friday was a real treat for the group as they had a full day of training with the guys from Parallel Lines, the weather was fairly good and it was time for a big day out over in glorious Val Thorens! There were plenty of opportunities for both on and off piste skiing, but to the dissapointment of everyone, it was mostly on piste as most were intent on trying to master the techniques of short turns, long turns and central theme. But we have to say everyone's day was well and truly made when Callum Ferguson somehow managed to snap his ski completely in half. Sorry Callum, we know it's unfortunate and going to cost you a fortune, but at the same time it was pretty funny (and educational) watching you hurling yourself down blue runs on one leg!
The end of the week saw a huge dumping of pow, with nearly 3 meters of fresh snow at the top of the mountain! This should set us up very nicely for the Level 2 exams which are now just around the corner, as well as for the rest of the season here in Three Valleys.
Now we are in to the final week of training, and let's hope the terrific conditions continue!
