We are pleased to announce that Shauna Rigby, the inaugural winner of our Interschools scholarship has gained a full-time position working as a ski instructor at Perisher Mountain in SW Australia!
Prior to taking part in one of our Ski Instructor Courses Shauna attended Radford College, Canberra. Shauna was involved with interschools from the tender age of 8 and went on to become one of the finest alpine and skier cross races in the Canberra territory. She was chosen for the scholarship not just for her skiing prowess but also because ofher concern and time for others, her leadership qualities, and because of what an outstanding representative she would be for SnowSkool and Interschools.
Shauna subsequently went on to graduate from the SnowSkool Banff Course 2011 complete with her CSIA level 1 & 2 ski instructor qualifications. Once the celebrations and the final weeks of the Banff course had come to a close, Shauna returned to her native land where she wasted no time in applying for ski instructor jobs at the local Aussie mountain ranges.
We caught up with Shauna and asked her how it's been going so far:
“Working in Perisher has been so much fun! I'm loving every bit of it, even if i was skiing in gale force winds and snow today!
Working as an instructor is very challenging at times but sincerely rewarding. Watching my school group on Monday go from first timers to linking fast snowplough (And some got to parallel) by Friday was a great feeling. I love helping people achieve their goals. ”
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Shauna and all the other SnowSkoolers working this season the very best of luck in their new jobs!
If you’re a past graduate of SnowSkool and looking for instructing jobs then why not get back in touch? We’d be happy to help!
