“I’ve always done a lot of sport and have helped coach football and tennis at summer camps. I also always knew I wanted to do a gap year before heading to Manchester Uni. I thought the SnowSkool course was the perfect fit for me because I didn't want to just go travelling as a tourist on my gap year – I wanted to be doing an activity."

“To be honest I felt like I missed the boat on the ski season thing when I was younger as I got straight into working and then it never seemed to be the right time. It was always in the back of my mind and I was actually 30 when I came across instructor courses – I had no idea you could do a season and not have to work in a chalet or a bar.”

Annie Thallon did SnowSkool’s Banff course aged 18. “I finished school and didn't 100% know what I wanted to do. Rather than jumping straight into university, I decided to combine everything that I love doing (skiing, teaching, and travelling) which is when I came across SnowSkool."

Where are they now? Life post-SnowSkool course
Perhaps the best testament to our courses, is the success ex-SnowSkoolers have after they qualify. We spoke to past participants, about what they did next, where are they now and what advice they have to offer. Plenty became ski instructors or snowboard instructors, but a few have set up ski wear brands, work for snowboarding websites, and even working for SnowSkool!

Meet Shauna Rigby: ex-SnowSkooler and APSI L4 National demo team member
Meet Shauna Rigby, an Australian who really has made a successful career from ski instructing. Shauna started off as an unsure teenager with a love for ski racing and a dream to create a career out of her passion. Through hard work and dedication, Shauna has gone from ski racing as a child in Australia, to gain her Level 2 with SnowSkool in Banff Canada, to becoming one of the youngest ever females to reach APSI Level 4. And then to be selected to represent APSI in the national demo ski team!
