Your boots are your connection between you and your skis. Too tight and your feet will be sore, too loose and you won’t be able to control your equipment. For that reason, we recommend that you get your boots fitted by a professional boot fitter … they will make sure that they are the right size and shape for your feet.

A custom-made foot bed is a critical element in a properly fitted boot. A foot bed will enhance fit and performance and ensure that your feet remain in the best biomechanical position while riding. This adds comfort and improves the circulation of blood in your feet, meaning your toes will stay warmer!

LITTLE TIPS FOR BUYING SKI BOOTS

• Don’t buy boots online!

• Go to a specialist store, such as Ellis Brigham (stores nationwide - and discounts for signed up SnowSkoolers), Solutions 4 Feet in Bicester or Pro Feet in Fulham, London, for a proper boot fitting appointment.

 • Pay the extra for a custom-made foot bed

SNOWBOARD BINDINGS

The job of your bindings is to keep your feet attached to the snowboard and to transfer the movements you make with your body (including ankles, feet and toes!) to your board.

There are a great variety of different designs of snowboard bindings on the market which can again be very confusing. We recommend getting simple two strap bindings (separate straps around your ankle and over or cupping your toes) with a high back. The majority of bindings are designed in this way. They allow for the greatest control of your snowboard.

Avoid Click in / Step in / Flow bindings – not appropriate for demonstrating the basics to beginners.

SNOWBOARD BOOTS

When buying your snowboard boots throw all your preconceptions out of the window. This is your most important piece of kit! We recommend that you buy your boots from a professional boot fitter and that you take your time when you are there.

Decide on your budget and try on as many boots as you can in your price range. We recommend getting custom foot beds for added comfort and performance. Buy the ones which fit the best, you will be spending many hours in them and it pays to invest. Sore feet are not fun!
